Health For Hope

As I promised, I will now begin to share my journey with all of you to get Hope healthy.

Let me start with a little background.

In 2017 I had this great idea to rescue and off the track thoroughbred horse. What was I thinking?

Horses that come off the track are a dime a dozen and unfortunately many of them will be bound for slaughter at some point in their after track life. Horse racing, in my opinion is a dirty, ugly sport and floods the market with many unwanted horses.

Thoroughbreds are an incredibly beautiful breed, but very high strung, especially immediately after they leave the track. It takes a very skilled and knowledgeable person to prepare them for their next step in life. So after a lot of looking around, I found Hope. Her jockey name is "Solo Un Momento." She has a heart of gold, but not a heart for racing, so after many different owners, she ended up with me. She was 9 years old and had been off the track for quite a few years. She had had some post track training.

I brought her home determined she was too much horse for me to ride, so I found a lovely young lady to ride her. Ellie and Hope quickly became a wonderful pair. Eventually, I gave her Hope. Ellie and Hope have a wonderful relationship to this day. As with all my rescues, I ask the new owners to let me know if they can no longer care for the animal and I will take them back. t

As with all my rescues, I ask the new owners to let me know if they can no longer care for the animal and I will take them back.

I am not going to go into details about the next few years, just to say that she came back to me at the end of last summer.

She had been diagnosed with a very serious metabolic disease known as Laminitis. The prognosis is not great. We have a long road ahead and I'm so happy to have you join me.

I'm going to stop here for now.

Thanks for reading and take care.

Sincerely,

Ann
